Leading Through Change
Working with Ontario’s 36 Conservation Authorities, Conservation Ontario was able to achieve a number of accomplishments which addressed key policy priorities including the CA Act Review, source water protection, flooding and climate change, and protecting the Great Lakes. Specific highlights included:
- Support for implementation of the Ontario Drinking Water Source Protection Program
- Development of a Nearshore Framework and a Nearshore Monitoring Protocol
- Funding towards 87 Conservation Authority water and erosion infrastructure projects
- Training and many other support services for Conservation Authority staff in regulations and planning, flood management, information management and other disciplines
Connecting People With Nature
Conservation Ontario is also very proud of its 2016 Healthy Hikes campaign which strives to encourage people of all ages to get out onto hiking trails in conservation areas across the province in order to improve their physical and mental health.
